    *Width (mm)
    • Measure the inside width of the reveal, from the left side to the right side, in millimetres.

    • For widths over 800mm (PVC) or 950mm (Paulownia/Basswood), the panel may be split into two or more for strength and easier operation.

    *Height (mm)
    • Measure the inside height of the reveal, from the top to the bottom, in millimetres.

    • For taller panels (over 1500mm or 1800mm, depending on material), mid-rails may be required.

    *Construction Material
    • PVC is best for wet or humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens—it's waterproof and termite-proof.

    • Paulownia is lightweight and moisture-tolerant, great for most living areas with less humidity.

    • Basswood offers the highest-quality paint and stain finish, ideal for premium interiors but not suitable for wet zones.

    *Mullion / Winder?
    • A mid-rail is required for panels over 1500mm in height (PVC) or 1800mm (Paulownia/Basswood) to maintain structural integrity.

    • If the window has a horizontal mullion or winder, measure from the bottom of the window to the centre of that feature—this is your mid-rail height.

    *Midrail Height (mm)
    • A mid-rail is required for panels over 1500mm in height (PVC) or 1800mm (Paulownia/Basswood) to maintain structural integrity.

    • If the window has a horizontal mullion or winder, measure from the bottom of the window to the centre of that feature—this is your mid-rail height.

    *Number of Panels

How many separate, hinged, swing open panels wil you need? When choosing the number of panels, consider both the width of the window or door and the surrounding space. Larger panels provide a cleaner look with fewer breaks, but keep in mind the clearance needed to open them fully. If furniture like beds, couches, or walls sit close to the window, smaller panels may be the better option to avoid interference. For wider openings, multiple panels can also help distribute weight more evenly, reduce sagging, and allow for smoother operation over time.

    *Wood Finish
    • Paulownia and Basswood shutters are available in a stunning range of painted and timber-stained finishes that highlight the natural grain and character of the wood. Stained shutters offer a rich, organic feel, while painted finishes provide a modern, clean aesthetic with more colour flexibility.

    *Paint Colour
    • Our painted wood shutters are available in a curated selection of timeless, neutral tones—designed to complement any interior style. From soft whites to warm off-whites and subtle greys, these finishes provide a smooth, elegant surface that enhances the natural timber beneath. Each shutter is coated in multiple layers of premium polyurethane paint, ensuring a long-lasting, durable finish with brilliant colour depth and exceptional resistance to wear.

    *Frame Type
    • L Frames are used for face mounting on the wall or window architrave—ideal when the reveal is too narrow or has obstructions.

    • Z Frames are used for a recess fit inside the window frame, offering a cleaner finish and built-in architrave look.

    *Blade Width
    • 89mm is the most popular—offers a balanced look and better light control.
    • 63mm suits shallow reveals or tight spaces but can look busier due to more blades.

    • 114mm gives a sleek, modern appearance but requires a deep reveal (at least 81mm clearance).

    • Always check reveal depth to make sure the chosen blade size fits without hitting the glass or obstructions.

    *Scaffolding Required?

Scaffolding is required for any installation that is not able to be performed from floor level, eg. for a stairwell window 2400mm or higher

    *Telescopic Rod

Our Telescopic Tilt Rod is the perfect solution for hard-to-reach shutters. Designed to extend and retract with ease, this lightweight, durable rod allows you to tilt blades that are installed high up — such as on voids or above doorways — without the need for a ladder. It’s a simple, safe, and convenient way to maintain full control of your shutters, no matter how tall your windows are.

    *Vertical Mullion / T-Post
    • or wide windows with vertical dividers, a T-post allows multiple panels to align with each window section.

    • Measure from the left inside edge of the reveal to the centre of each vertical mullion, and note the total number of sections.

    *Mullion / T-Post Position (mm)
    *Window Shape
    • Most windows are rectangular, but we can accommodate arched, round, bay, or angled shapes—just let us know.

    • For special shapes, always upload a photo so our team can assess and guide the configuration.

    *Tilt Rod Style
    • Clearview is the most common—a discreet bar at the back of the blades, moved by hand.

    • Front tilt rod is traditional and visible on the front—can be centred or off-centre.

    • Hidden tilt (internal mechanism) is available but cannot be repaired if damaged—choose with caution.

    *Split Blades

Would you like to split the blades into two separate groups for independent operation?
This option lets you control the top and bottom blades separately, giving you more flexibility. For example, you might keep the bottom closed for privacy while letting light in through the top — perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, and street-facing windows.

    Choose from:
    • Split blades into two groups
    • Split blades above mid-rail
    • Split blades below mid-rail

Split control can be added with or without a mid-rail, depending on your layout. Let us know your preference so we can tailor it to your needs.
